After many months of manifesting our next dream house, I am finally back at the piano. It is the place where I find my muse waiting for me. It is the place my soul connects with the DIVINE. My art imitates my life and this song I wrote is an exact conversation from a moment in time. My daughter is almost 11 years old now. I will never forget those intimate moments we shared when she was a baby. My heart grew one million sizes because of her and my husband. I promise to release this as a recording some day. Boy do I love my peeps! Actually, I NEED them. And as I step into all of who I am, I have been shedding that which doesn’t work for me any more. I am doing some deep work that involves daily meditation and even appointments with my Shaman. This morning after having yet another bad dream that left me in the yucky space, I was struggling to shake it. Seeing my husband’s face first thing and having a partner like him who really understands and honors me is HUGE. Then there is my cat who makes me smile every morning. THEN there is Elizabeth who wraps it all up in a GOOD MORNING BOW! Pretty soon, I am fully shifted into JOY! I know that is the place I need to be in to show up in the world saying YES to all that is awaiting me!

But WAIT! There’s MORE! In addition to some really close friends who remind me how wonderful I am, I have some amazing friends in Social Media. My twitter and facebook friends are an unexpected gift! @DailyDimmick tweeted that I was “sunshine and cream in coffee” and expected to “Bring it” today. Then later @TheGoToMom tweeted that I am LOVED! I knew that I needed to sit at the piano and BE all that they see in me and give that love back to them the best way I know how. THAT put me in the space of LOVE which brought me closer to who I want to be in this world. One step at a time.

My latest music project “Life is the Party” is now out on CDbaby and itunes! The music production is “off the charts” amazing and I’ve never been happier with how CC Thomas Jr. captured my voice. Still, I keep getting requests for just me and the piano. That is where my songs start, at least most of them. And the proof of a good song is in its “NAKED” form. So here it is. No studio sound. No cool production. No killer background vocals(my favorite thing to create), no wall of sound. Just me, my muse (Yamaha C7 Grand) and my soul mate daughter.

This song (track 4) was the first song I wrote on this project. It is my core message to the world and my healing song for myself. I am the child on the hill who was hiding her light. I joke that I have been under a rock for 20 years. This was the beginning of my emerging from that place.

My daughter, Elizabeth, is a huge part of my healing process. In my quest to assure that she will never find herself under that rock, I made a decision to show her what it looks like to shine in the full glory of my brilliance. Somewhere along the way, I stopped doing it for her and allowed myself to BE who I really am.

I am not there yet. But I am right where I need to be. I am a work in progress and loving the journey now more than ever. We get to design our lives. We create our world. My world is filled with love, light, laughter and beauty. I designed it that way.

“You Know My Heart” is a song I wrote about my husband AND about God. It is from my Album “Speak the Word”. This music video was directed, shot and produced in 2003 by Kimberley Clayton Blaine. I didn’t know it at the time, but she showed me a whole new passion for creativity with a video camera. As I begin to create and produce music videos for my new music project, “Life is the Party”, I thought it would be appropriate to honor my first music video which was a GIFT from an amazing woman I am blessed to call my friend.

In the studio with Michael & CC getting the form down for the last song “My Kitschy Kitschy Girl” on my “Life is the Party” project. Elizabeth was home from school with a bad cough. Notice the rag around her neck keeping it warm with VICKS! Can you guess who I wrote that song about?

I decided that my VLOG is missing me doing my music which is weird since I am a singer/songwriter who lives to empower and inspire people with my music. So I got Elizabeth to man the camera. We talked about what kind of shots we wanted to get and then did our first TEST SHOOT so we could “evaluate” the lighting, shots etc. Mommy botched the chords on the bridge of the song and then hit some heinus note that should have ended the whole thing. But us “show biz troopers” forged on! I was going to review it and then shoot the real one, but Elizabeth was laughing so hard AND was about to quit work to swing on the swings. So I decided it was as good as it gets. Plus the perfectionist in me got to enjoy the messy gooey horrifyingly sinfully delectible yucky-ness of my own humanity. Wooo Hooooo!

Elizabeth even co-wrote one song.  Actually, she started a song and LET me co-write it with her.  If you are wondering whether a person should work in “the biz” with children or animals… I strongly advise against it.  Although I seem to keep doing it over and over again.  Not with animals of course.  Hmmmm I haven’t tried our cat Tasha on background vocals yet.  Nahhh… I don’t think she will go for it.  FOCUS!  Stay focused… Ohmmmmmm  Stay tuned!

She’s my daughter, baby bird, spiritual guru, healer and soul sister. Her spiritual practice is organic and constant as only true love can be. And she is a powerful “Freight Train” Karate Mama! Can’t wait to see what she will do next. She is 10 now. She wrote these and we recorded them when she was 5. You will definitely SMILE when you hear these two songs…goose bumps even.;-)
