This is the month I get down to the business of knocking out my book, “Skip the Princess. Raise the Queen.” It is all in my computer. And now is the time. It is inspired of course by the healing journey of raising my daughter who I named after Queen Elizabeth. The idea of the book is that in order to raise a queen, a mom must first be the queen of her own domain. I believe we must show our daughters what it looks like to live a life of joy that fully expresses our potential in the world. Do I have stories! I cover birth stories, sisterhood, real beauty, true connection, balance in life, realizing our dreams and that is just for starters. I also include my trip to the Miss America pageant AND whether or not to wait for Prince Charming!
To give you a little sneak peek of what to expect, here is a bit of the intro:
Before I start at the very beginning, I must first tell the story of the exact moment I knew I was REALLY supposed to write this book. The idea and the title of this book came to me in a huge “Aha moment”! It was a “Gift from the Gods”, “lottery ticket winning”, “life altering” moment. “Skip the Princess, Raise the Queen!” What a high! Every person hearing it was blown away! “What a great book title!” “I want to read THAT book!” Great… just great…. Ugh.
Then the doubt crept in. Who am I to write this book? The gloom and doom of not being good enough haunted me like the dead people I imagined hanging in my closet as a girl. The weight of “writer block” cement shoes dragged me down to the depths of an imaginary murky river, all the while smiling and waving with my best game face.
One day I was talking to a friend while in my car on my Bluetooth about not being sure. Just then, The Universe swooped in like a mother bird to save her precious young from a vicious predator. It was an “I really can’t make up this bizarre kind of stuff ” kind of moment. The white car in front of me had a vanity license plate that read “PRINCESS”. If that wasn’t clear enough, the frame read, “I’m the Princess” on top and “Who the hell are you?” on the bottom.
Need a sign? I was completely blown away. I laughed as I told my friend, “I need to hang up so I can pull this chick over and explain to her just WHO I AM”. Actually, tell her who we all are as women, Sisters, Mothers, Daughters, and Friends. Women who are not out to ruin someone else’s day but to elevate each other to be great leaders and healers in the world. Not competing or comparing, but supporting and reveling in our differences that make us all unique and beautiful from the inside out. There IS enough for everyone and we all have access to everything we need to get us where we need to go.
I am not a spoiled Princess who runs around proudly ranting mindless dribble. I am the Queen of my domain. I am a fearless leader and warrior born to lead with compassion, love and light. I am here to inspire and empower others to live in the greatest expression of who they are. As are you. You clearly have forgotten who YOU are. I’ll resist the overwhelming urge to slap you to your senses. I’ll have to work that out in the Karate dojo.
This is a book I was meant to write. This is part of my healing journey.
I hope you find yourself here too. I am honored and humbled by your presence.

BRAVA!!! If the title wasn’t enough to make me wanna read the book, your intro to it here is!!!
I’m feeling bestseller! Can’t wait to read!
Wow, Susan! I’m looking forward to reading it. Tell me more. Love, Sandy
Dear old friend from college,
I hope your book does well. We now have 2 daughters 16, and 11. I’m there sister !! Sarah the oldest is a leader and not a follower in the ” popular” crowd because she chose to see what that really was in 6th and 7th grade. Now looking into her senior year she is admired by many students and adults in our community for being a caring person who isn’t afraid to love others and also show them being a Christian is cool. I have worked extemely hard being the best role model and mom plus parent who cares but loves with discipline. The website I listed is part of where my husband works( and where we met) at the Palace Theater as the Stage manager in Columbus. Many of us that were in Scarlet and Gray are on facebook too. If you come to Columbus to do seminars let me know !

WOW! Thanks for all of the loving support! It means the world to me! And I love when you share your personal stories with me. It is a reminder to us all that we are all going through the same things! Every woman on this comment page so far is an amazing example of what it looks like to “Be the Queen”! I am in awe of the company I keep!
