One of my greatest joys is sharing my positive music with children.  I LOVE sharing empowering messages with kids who may or may not have “gotten the memo” that they are a great light in the world.  After having the privilege of performing with the 5th Grade Chorus from Manchester Elementary School (in South Central Los Angeles) at the Universal Sheraton in Hollywood for the Nexxus Conference Luncheon held annually by ICAN (The Inter-Agency Council on Child Abuse and Neglect), they invited me to their school to perform with them at their Christmas concert!   I had spent some time rehearsing with them and a true love connection was made.  These kids lit up when they sang The Twelve Gifts of Birth MUSIC with me.  My heart is forever touched and I will never be the same.  I hope they continue to believe “the truth about themselves” that we sang about together.

My daughter sees me in my “Plain Jane” persona 99% of the time. AND as a performer my whole life, it wasn’t until the last decade that I decided I was pretty without any make-up on at all. A huge deal if you are in the “Biz”. We get so used to seeing ourselves made up for stage that seeing our “natural selves” is a tough pill to swallow. I have raised my daughter to understand her natural beauty is… GORGEOUS! And I have grown to feel that same way about myself. But I still have to get “dolled up” to perform on stage so I can be seen under extremely bright lights. And my daughter gets to see me getting ready which includes not just the make up and hair… but…. wait for it…. THE SHOES!!!! Even if I don’t have a hot date with daddy, or a show to do I sometimes pull out my sexy, sassy shoes and model them for her.  She loves to see me act like a model on the catwalk while telling her that she’s got game too.  Then she HAS to try on my shoes and “strut her stuff”.  We end up demonstrating Karate moves in high heels because that is part of our “wicky wacky” nature.   She’s my Tom Boy for sure. Just like her mom. But a little sugar in with the spice is a very delicious combo for a woman to have. I want her to embrace it all. I can see she already does.  Now I ask her which shoes look best with my outfits.  Turns out, my gal has a great eye for fashion.  Go Figure.

She’s my daughter, baby bird, spiritual guru, healer and soul sister. Her spiritual practice is organic and constant as only true love can be. And she is a powerful “Freight Train” Karate Mama! Can’t wait to see what she will do next. She is 10 now. She wrote these and we recorded them when she was 5. You will definitely SMILE when you hear these two songs…goose bumps even.;-)
